Inspired by Isabel

Dear Isabel Marant...all I can say is Thank You.

Obviously, I am in love with all things French, and this young Paris-based designer has won my heart to the maximum.

Creating eclectic pieces with bohemian edge, her creations are body-conscious while comfortable and wearable. The look transfers from the runway to the street seamlessly. Marant uses ultra luxurious fabrics and innovative colors. A perfect balance of brights and neutrals and mixing of textures. Her pieces are rich and casual at the same time. The collection is so right now without being ultra trendy.

While we can't all access (and by access, I mean afford) to have the Isabel Marant collection in our closets, we can take her aesthetic as inspiration, using pieces we already own and finding lower priced accents inspired by these chic styles...

We all have some of the basics necessary to duplicate the look in our wardrobe already; slouchy tee's and tanks, a tailored blazer, classic shorts, harem style trousers (okay, so maybe some of us don't have these, but H & M does!), solid tunics, tweed style jackets, crop jeans, soft mini's, a vest, nude springy flowy tops, slouch boots. Throw in some edgy accessories like eclectic scarves and belts and necklaces, and voila...you are a French Fashion Goddess. The magic is really in how she puts the outfits together. It all looks young, chic, very effortless. A to die for rock'n'roll meets boho meets feminine luxe mash up.

She recently launched Etoile, a less expensive secondary line that maintains Marant's rock and roll aesthetic....and finally, Marant has opened a boutique on US soil. Her NYC boutique is on the corner of Broome and Spring Streets in Soho, and I can not wait to get there!

Here's an idea -(do this with any designers/looks you worship)- tear out images from magazines or print out runway or editorial looks you find online, and make an inspiration board each season for what your ideal look would be. Put it up somewhere in your closet or near where you get dressed. Keep your inspiration right in front of you to stay on it. Or a more low maintenence approach is to flip through the pages of British Vogue before you get dressed to go out. Pure gloss!
